BBBSCI Partners with the Indy Fuel for the “Zero to Sixty” Campaign

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana (BBBSCI) is partnering with the Indy Fuel in an effort to recruit 60 adult male volunteers in 4 weeks and raise awareness of the importance of mentoring. The campaign begins October 8 and ends on November 4. The Indy Fuel have previously partnered with BBBSCI for various fundraising and recruitment initiatives, but this is the first the Indy Fuel are serving as the presenting partner for a targeted male recruitment campaign.

“The Indy Fuel are great supporters of the Big Brothers Big Sisters mission, and we’re excited to partner with them in this new “Zero to Sixty” campaign to encourage men to help us reach more boys on our waiting list,” Darcey Palmer-Shultz, BBBSCI CEO said.

Seventy percent of the children waiting to be matched with Bigs are boys. The average wait time for boys waiting to be matched is about one year due to the lack of male volunteers. The campaign is aimed at involving individuals and organizations of all kinds to participate or spread the word about the importance of mentoring. Through a wide range of community engagements, social events, and awareness opportunities, the BBBSCI staff, current volunteers, and Board of Directors will utilize this campaign to encourage more men to sign up as Big Brothers, Big Couples, and Big Friend pairs.

“The Indy Fuel are extremely excited to be teaming up with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana for the “Zero to 60” Campaign. Finding ways to make our community a better place to live has been a top priority for our team since our inception in 2014, and we’re honored to be working with a great organization like BBBSCI,” said Fuel President & COO Larry McQueary. “Our players cannot get to where they are today without the support and guidance of numerous coaches and mentors throughout their career, so we know first hand how important this cause is.”

Individuals interested in getting involved are encouraged to contact Rick Belbutoski, Manager of Volunteer Outreach and Engagement, at: mailto:rbelbutoski@bbbsci.org / 317-472-3720 or visit the BBBSCI website at: http://www.bebigforkids.org/volunteer.
