Indianapolis – Indianapolis Colts fans are invited to vote for the Colts Cheerleaders 2019 “Woman of the Year,” which recognizes a veteran squad member for her community efforts throughout the year.
This is the second year of the program. It was created as a part of the Colts Cheerleaders “Next Chapter,” a new approach to professional cheerleading that redefines what it means to be a cheerleader and an athlete-performer and gives squad members more opportunities to be involved in the community.
As such, each veteran cheerleader teamed up with a local nonprofit and created an idea for a community service project. Through fan voting, one cheerleader and her selected nonprofit will receive a $10,000 grant from the NFL and Colts foundations to complete the proposed project.
Voting is now open and will end on November 20. Fans may vote at Colts.com/cheerleaders/woman-of-the-year. The winning project will be announced at the Dec. 1 home game against the Tennessee Titans.
Proposed projects by the veteran cheerleaders include:
Caroline (Second Year), Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana. Caroline would grant funding to support the hundreds of youth on their waitlist. She also has spent time as the director of activities for College Mentors for Kids and logged over 3,000 hours with Back2Back Orphan Care Ministries.
