Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana is committed to keeping our Bigs, Littles, families, employees, and supporters healthy and safe. We are currently taking steps to prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

As participants in our program, we want you to be the first to know of our procedures, plans, and general tips for preventing the spread of COVID-19.

In effect now:

BBBSCI staff will work remotely until March 20 (at minimum).

BBBSCI will limit business-related travel and monitor recreational travel of all BBBSCI staff.

Program functions, including Volunteer Interviews, Youth/Parent Interviews, and Mentor Trainings, will take place via video, web conference, or phone through March 31 (at minimum).  New Match Introductions will be rescheduled for dates in April.  We will send separate communication to provide instructions.

All Match Activities will be canceled through April 13 (at minimum). As of today, BBBSCI strongly recommends that all Bigs and Littles avoid in-person match outings through March 31 (at minimum) and instead focus on building a friendship through email, phone, text, FaceTime, Skype, etc. Please contact your Mentoring Relationship Specialist and refer to The Big App for ideas on how to stay connected.

We will continue thoroughly cleaning all BBBSCI facilities according to CDC recommendations.

Monitoring closely:

We have begun considering contingency plans for our Celebrate Mentoring and Bowl For Kids’ Sake events in April. We will make separate announcements to inform you about these events.

Additional resources:

Our community is working to make plans to support people during this time.  Although plans are limited at this time, if you are in need of meal services, please visit the Indianapolis Public Schools website and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center Facebook page for more information.

Be sure to review and follow the Center for Disease Control’s recommendations for preventing the spread of illness.

Thank you for your continued support of the BBBSCI mission and for all you do to defend potential in our community.
