Title: Mentoring Relationship Specialist
Start Date: August 2018
My favorite memory from working at BBBSCI is … In early 2020, BBBSCI had a professional development day that was remarkable. Traveling in small groups we had the opportunity explore and learn about other agencies in our community and connect with them about how BBBSCI could be a partner in their work. At the end of the day, we came together and shared what we had learned, as well as used it push ourselves to think about what more we could be doing for our BBBSCI community. I love working for a place that is a community staple, but always pushing to be better.
What I love most about my job is … One of my favorite mantra’s is that every kid is just one caring adult away from being a success story… and that is what we do here every single day by providing kids with one more caring adult.
How has mentoring played a role in your life? Growing up an involved kid, I was fortunate to have a lot of adults outside of my parents teaching me and pushing me to be my best self. In particular, the adult staff at my leadership camp had a really big impact on my life. Watching so many adults volunteer a week of their life to be a part of the campers growth showed me how I wanted to live my life, and certain staff really helped me learn more about who I was and what my strengths were, including being a leader and a good human connector. I have carried that with me ever since and it has led me here!
When I’m not at work, you can find me … Hopefully it is nice and you can find me either hiking, traveling, at the lake, or locally enjoying a nice patio. If not, I am still hanging out with all my favorite people, family, and my favorite four-legged friends – my pup Maizie and kitten Griffy.
What is your favorite spot(s) in Indy? My favorite place when it is chilly or I need to have a meeting, Teas Me Café – but when it is nice outside the Rathskeller Biergarden is a magical place to enjoy nice weather and live music. I also love seeing live music at the Hi-Fi!
