April Match Moment

Not many students can say that they got to ride an elephant. And a camel. But Little Sister Quiana from IPS 54 got to do just that through the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana program. Quiana has also been able to go to her first Pacers game, a Colts game, build bears at Build-A-Bear and grab lunch in Irvington - all with her friend and Big Sister, Rose, from the near Eastside.

Not only has the match engaged in high energy and fun activities, but Rose always supports Quiana in her academic and extra-curricular endeavors. Rose attended Quiana's awards ceremony at IPS 54 and also came to see Quiana's fashion show at a local park, both of which were very meaningful to Quiana and her mother.

Quiana and Rose have been matched since January of 2011 and it's clear they are building the blocks for a life-long friendship. Rose stated, "I decided to become a Big Sister because I have always believed that you need to give back. I have been lucky and always had somebody that I could rely on but that was only because somebody was willing to be there. We are all in this together whether we realize it or not."
