On June 17, forty-four matches (Big and Little pairs) will be graduating from the Big Brothers Big Sisters program during our annual Celebrate Mentoring graduation event presented by Taco Bell. Additionally, an individual from the community who has demonstrated a passion for mentoring and a commitment to making mentoring an integral part of their life will be honored with the Community Mentor Award and this year, we are honored to recognize Frank Davis, Owner and President of Circle City Rebar LLC, former Big Brother, Board President of Big Brothers, and BBBSCI Board Member. Celebrate Mentoring highlights the impact of mentoring relationships in our community and allows us to celebrate the achievements and dedication of our volunteers and youth. Our generous corporate sponsors make this event possible year after year and we are grateful for their support. Cummins Inc. is a Community Impact event sponsor this year and Gwen Langley, Director of Global Community Engagement for Cummins Inc. and BBBSCI Board Member, shares what it means for Cummins Inc. to partner with Big Brother Big Sisters of Central Indiana.
Although different in size, structure, and scope, Cummins and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana (BBBSCI) share a committed responsibility to giving back to their communities.
For Cummins, more than 50,000 of our employees commit their time, passions, skills and resources to improving their communities—around the world and here in Indiana. Integral to our efforts are community organizations like BBBSCI.
In our partnership with BBBSCI, Cummins employees were able to use the Company’s Six Sigma business tools to help improve relationship retention between Bigs and Littles, resulting in an increase from 59 percent to 71 percent over three years. Today, BBBSCI is among the best-performing agencies in the country.
Those Big and Little relationships, some of which date back to 2005, being recognized at the Celebrate Mentoring event show the importance of, and need for, BBBSCI. And for that reason, Cummins employees are honored to be considered partners.
By helping one another, the organization and Bigs and Littles are in turn helping their community. That impact, and the success of these children, is worth celebrating.
Cummins congratulates Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana and the 44 match relationships in the 2015 Graduating Class!
