“We really appreciate OneMain Financial making this special opportunity possible for Big Brothers Big Sisters,” Darcey Palmer-Shultz, BBBSCI Chief Executive Officer, said. “Thanks to their generosity and support, we were able to invite all of our Bigs, Littles, and parents to a memorable day at the fair. We would not be able to host all of our program participants at one event without their support, and it’s really meaningful to everyone to have this day together.”
“OneMain is honored to sponsor Big Brothers Big Sisters Day at the Indiana State Fair. This is a great way to give Bigs, Littles and their families time to reconnect and have fun together,” said Trish Weaver, Director of Philanthropy at OneMain. “Our OneMain team members truly enjoy participating in important local and regional events like this, and partnering with great organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana is just one of the many ways we try to make a difference in the communities where our team members and customers live and work.”
BBBSCI will serve 1,200 youth this year by providing them with mentors. BBBSCI partners with parents, guardians, volunteers, schools, donors, and others in the community to be accountable for helping youth in our program achieve higher aspirations, greater confidence, educational success, and avoidance of risky behaviors.
Key findings from a survey commissioned by Harris Interactive demonstrate BBBS mentoring programs work:
- 81 percent said their Bigs changed their perspective on what was possible in life
