Get to Know: Caitlin Bain!

Name: Caitlin Bain, MSW
Title: Director of Development
Start Date: January 2018

My favorite memory from working at BBBSCI is … The first day in our new office at 1433 N Meridian Street. There was an awesome rush of new energy and excitement with the space to do even more than ever before. We knew it was the beginning of some really big stuff to come! Knowing how many individuals and supporters who stood with us to make it all possible was truly inspiring. I will always hold that day in my heart and memory.

What I love most about my job is … I love getting to know people and hear their stories – especially, what matters most to them. I have the unique privilege of representing BBBSCI in a way that allows me to invite others to stand with us to defend the limitless potential that exists in every kid. I think inviting someone to be a part of a mission like ours is truly impactful and I hope supporters know how much we value their generosity to make this work possible.

How has mentoring played a role in your life? I have too many mentors to count. Each one has been a part of an important milestone or pushed me to recognize where I could grow most. I think the best part of mentoring is the give and take – both mentor and mentee learn from each other. I am so grateful for the mentors who believed in me and pushed me to find my way – they remain some of the most treasured people in my life.

When I’m not at work, you can find me … Playing with my 2 kids, Rowan and Molly; and spending time with my husband, David. You’ll find me in Jamestown, Indiana (a hop, skip and a jump away from Indy that I often affectionately refer to as “Egypt” due to the distance we live from ….well, everything) in a little house, with a couple acres of land.

What is your favorite spot(s) in Indy? We love the outdoors and enjoy going on family hikes at different parts like Turkey Run, Shades Park or Eagle Creek. My husband and I also love trying different restaurants and breweries – a favorite of ours is Big Woods in Speedway, but if you are up for adventure, we tell everyone we know to try Perillo’s Pizzeria in North Salem, IN – it is worth the drive and the wait! Trust me.
