Tony “TK” Kanaan Featured Speaker at BBBSCI’s Largest Fundraiser

Who: Tony “TK” Kanaan, Indy 500 winner and INDYCAR driver & Big Brothers Big Sisters supporters

What: The Main Event: A Virtual Experience presented by Taco Bell, benefitting Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana, and featuring Tony “TK” Kanaan

Where: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana 1433 N. Meridian St. Indianapolis, IN 46202   

When: October 22, 2020.  BBBSCI CEO available for virtual interviews or interviews outside of the BBBSCI office between 3 and 5 PM. The Main Event program will take place from 6-7:30 PM.

Why: This traditionally sports-themed event has long been one of the city’s premier fundraisers, helping to raise significant funds for BBBSCI. This year, the event is adapting, alongside the BBBSCI programming, to keep the community and our supporters safe. Corporate sponsors stepped up to make new mentoring relationships possible through impact sponsorships of this event. Sponsors will be hosting tailgate parties at their homes or offices as they tune into the event on October 22. BBBSCI relies on the funding for this event to support over 1,200 matches annually.

About Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana will serve over 1,259 youth this year by proving them with mentors (Bigs).  BBBSCI partners with parents, guardians, volunteers, schools, donors, and others in the community to be accountable for helping youth in our program achieve higher aspirations, greater confidence, educational success, and avoidance of risky behaviors.

Key findings from a survey commissioned by Harris Interactive demonstrate BBBS mentoring programs work:

  • 89 percent of Littles improved their educational expectations
  • 91 percent of Littles report having better grades because of their Big
  • 96 percent stated that being a Little helped them improve their social competence
