Match: Little Sister Arniya and Big Sister Diane Hyatt

Little Sister Arniya and Big Sister Diane Hyatt have been matched for 10 years. Arniya graduated from Lawrence Central High School in December of 2020. Since graduating, Arniya has been working full-time at an elderly home in Noblesville. Arniya plans to attend Ivy Tech in the Fall and is still deciding where she wants to focus for her major. Arniya plans to work towards her 2 year Associates Degree and then will decide where to go from there.
Over the years in their relationship, Big Sister Diane has made it a priority to focus on helping Arniya in her schoolwork. During the first year of their match, Diane spent many hours visiting Arniya at her school, working on her reading, playing board games, and meeting her school friends. As the match grew, Diane and Arniya expanded beyond focusing only on schoolwork and worked on developing a true friendship as well. Big Sister Diane was so proud of Arniya for continuing to work hard as she got older, to the point that Arniya was in the position to graduate high school a semester early! Little Sister Arniya would tell you that her Big Sister Diana is one of the reasons that she has done so well in school.
After being matched together for 10 years, Arniya’s mother Latoya said, “Diane is family at this point. We have complete trust in her and are so grateful to have her in our life.”
Both Arniya and Diane have had a very busy year, but they have continued to remain in consistent communication with each other through lots of texting and calling between their outings together. While they are graduating our program after being active Bigs and Littles for 10 years, these two plan to remain in each other’s lives for years to come. We can’t wait to see everything that Arniya accomplishes.
