MAX: VOICE OF A CHANGEMAKER

My name is Collin, and I had the pleasure of being matched with Max just over a year and a half ago. From the get-go, I could tell that Max was energetic, spunky, intelligent, and driven. That first impression has grown exponentially since then! Max and I are always so excited to get together, and we have fun no matter what we do. Whether getting ice cream, doing science experiments, exploring Newfields, or touring the exhibits at the Children’s Museum, we always share laughs and learn a lot about different topics and about each other. Though Max is young, he is one of the most driven and intelligent young men I’ve ever met. He loves to explore and is always looking for opportunities to learn more. I firmly believe Max can do whatever he puts his mind to, both now and for the rest of his life.

Hi, my name is Max, and I am 11 years old. I live with my grandma, who is a Marine Corps veteran, and my sister, Tilly. I also have two brothers named Eli and Dominic and another sister named Bella. My dogs’ names are Bear and Buddy and my cats’ named Steinway and Hemingway. (One is a piano, and one is an author!)

I am in a few after-school activities, including Boy Scouts and Math Pentathlon. In my free time, I like to explore with Buddy. My favorite subjects in school are math and science, and I even like to read about them when I’m not in school! My favorite activity I have done with Collin through Big Brothers Big Sisters is when we made candles at Penn & Beech. My candle smells like the outdoors!

I like the USA because there is freedom of speech, and I think it is important to be able to express ourselves. Sometimes it can feel scary because of some of the things we see on the news, but I try not to think too much about these things. I know we have lots of good people in America who have good values and can teach us important things. I have seen them in Boy Scouts and Big Brothers Big Sisters! We have the chance to get a good education to be able to figure out what we like to do and what jobs we want when we get older. We can grow up to be whoever we want and do whatever we want!
