Match Date: October 31, 2012

High School: Franklin Community High School

Little Brother Aiden and Big Brother Doug Garrison have been matched together for 9 years. Aiden will be graduating from Franklin Community High School in the Spring. Come the Fall, Aiden is considering continuing his education in electronics or as an electrician.

When reflecting on their time together in the program and how Little Brother Aiden has grown over the past 9 years Doug shared, “We’re much more relaxed with each other; more of a friendship, than a mentorship.” Aiden also shared, “In the beginning I was nervous to meet him and now I am comfortable around him, and I would consider him a really good friend of mine.”

Aiden and Doug have done a lot together over the years, memories that stand out for them was when Doug convinced Aiden to take a ride in the front seat of a four-seat airplane. Aiden was very apprehensive, but he learned that he could conquer his fears by drawing strength from within and accepting Doug’s encouragement. Aiden also remembers when he was dealing with mental health issues and Doug was beside him in the hospital. Over the years they have had a fun time with one another.

Doug has one message that he would like to leave for Aiden. “Persevere…persevere…persevere continue to learn to rely on yourself but accept help from others. Know that people love you and want the best for you.” The BBBSCI family and Doug will be rooting for Aiden as he heads into this next chapter of his life.

Good luck, Aiden!
