Match: Little Brother Henock and Big Brothers Max Wurster and Al Oak

Match Date: June 6, 2017

High School: Fishers High School

Little Brother Henock and Big Brothers Max Wurster and Al Oak have been matched together for 5 years. Henock will be graduating from Fisher High School in the Spring. Henock will be attending Indiana University this Fall to study Biology.  Henock is also the scholarship recipient of the Fund in Honor of Darcey Palmer-Shultz and the dedicated BBBSCI Staff.

When reflecting on their time together in the program and how Little Brother Henock has grown over the years Max and Al shared, “I would sum up our relationship in two words: trust and confidence. We have experienced and learned a lot together and time has been the test. There is trust and confidence in the conversations and in future direction. Availability and great communication are also important in this regard. (Al) Our relationship has grown into a true mentorship. Henock is bright and talented young man, and I cannot wait to see where IU takes him! (Max)”

Henock, Max, and Al have done a lot together over the years but the memories that stand out for them is Henock’s dedication to his studies. The numerous trips to the library during the COVID-19 pandemic was a highlight for this match. They can also, remember when Henock told them he wanted to be a doctor to help others and he wanted to attend Indiana University.

Max and Al have a message that they would like to leave for Henock, “Stay humble and always be willing to come to the table and admit when you don’t know something. That attitude and remaining hungry to continue to learn will propel you forward! (Max) Henock, never, never forget the things that made you a success to date character, ongoing education, and work ethic. Further, your love and concern for others is exemplary and drives your success don’t ever lose that value. (Al)" The BBBSCI family, Max, and Al will be rooting for Henock in his next chapter of life at Indiana University.
Good luck, Henock!
