Crispus Attucks Medical Magnet

Match: Little Sister Acharye and Big Sister Lyndsi Fischer 

Match Date: October 26, 2012

High School: Arsenal Technical High School

Little Sister Acharye and Big Sister Lyndsi have been matched together for 9 years. Acharye will be graduating from Arsenal Technical High School in the Spring. Come the Fall, Acharye is planning to attend a Nail Tech Program. 

When reflecting on their time together in the program and how Little Sister Acharye has grown over the past 9 years Lyndsi shared, “We went from strangers to family. I have seen Acharye challenge herself in her schoolwork, learning how to swim, trusting me, and trying things outside of her comfort zone. I think being able to do that prepares you for life and I am so proud of her.” 

Acharye and Lyndsi have done a lot together over the years, but one memory that stands out for them was when they went kayaking! They both have spent their time learning and trying new things such as Lyndsi introducing authentic foods to push Acharye out of her comfort zone to try new things.  
Haylie has one message that she would like to leave for Alexis, “Alexis can truly do anything that she sets her mind to!” The BBBSCI family and Haylie will be rooting for Alexis as she heads into this next chapter of her life at Goshen College. 

Lyndsi has one message that she would like to leave for Acharye, “I am so proud of the young women you have become. I know with your hard work ethic you will be able to do whatever you want and will be able to succeed with life and its challenges. I am always here for you!” The BBBSCI family and Lyndsi will be rooting for Acharye in her future endeavors.

Arsenal Technical High School

Match: Little Sister Bryonis and Big Sister Katherine Brown 

Match Date: July 21, 2016

High School: Arsenal Technical High School 

Little Sister and Big Sister Katherine Brown have been matched together in the program for 5 years. Bryonis will be graduating from Arsenal Technical High School in the Spring. Bryonis is planning to enlist in the Air Force after graduation. 

This match has enjoyed the past 5 years being matched together. They have a fun time with one another doing fun activities and spending time with one another building a relationship. They have built a strong trusting relationship over the years and have been supportive of each other. They have enjoyed going out for sushi, making vision boards, going out for dinner, and etc. They love getting sushi together and always try different kinds of rolls. They love to catch up with one another and being together to hang out and talk. 

The BBBSCI family and Katherine will be rooting for Bryonis in her next chapter in the Air Force after graduation.

Match: Little Sister De'Nijah and Big Sister Stephanie Moran

High School: Arsenal Technical High School

Little Sister De’Nijah and Big Sister Stephanie Moran have been matched together for 5 years. De’Nijah will be graduating from Arsenal Technical High School in the Spring. De’Nijah is still considering her plans after graduation.

When reflecting on their time together in the program and how Little Sister has grown over the years Stephanie shared, “I have watched De’Nijah step outside her comfort zone and really put herself out there and take chances. When we first met, she was quiet and shy. Now she always shares what is on her mind and is open to new experiences.” 

De’Nijah and Stephanie have done a lot together over the years memories that stand out for them both were when they were flying in an airplane experience. Stephanie can remember how nervous De’Nijah was and that she almost turned back around. The experience made her get over her fears of flying and helped. In addition to these m

Crispus Attucks Medical Magnet

Match: Little Sister Frida and Big Sister Angela Lengerich

Match Date: March 16, 2017

High School: Crispus Attucks High School

Little Sister Frida and Big Sister Angela have been matched together for 5 years. Frida will be graduating from Crispus Attucks High School in the Spring. Come the Fall, Frida will be attending Indiana University studying Media!  

When reflecting on their time together in the program and how Little Sister Frida has grown over the past 5 years Angela shared, “Frida and I were both a little quiet at the beginning, but now we have an easy, comfortable time when we are together. I have also seen Frida’s love of baking develop over time as I have shared this passion of mine with her.” 

Frida and Angela have done a lot together over the years, but two memories that stand out for both is the tradition they started on Frida’s 13th birthday where they go to Bru Burger for lunch and then to the Cake Bake Shop for dessert! Also, they bake with one another spending time getting to know each other over their mutual hobby baking. In addition to these special memories, Frida and Angela have enjoyed many of the BBBSCI agency sponsored match events and going out for meals together.  

Angela has one message that she would like to leave for Frida, “Continue to be your caring, gentle self! You have achieved so much already and will continue to do wonderful things!” The BBBSCI family and Angela will be rooting for Frida as she heads into this next chapter of life at Indiana University.

Match: Little Sister Katelyn and Big Sister Bridget Burk

Match Date: November 8, 2013

High School: Cloverdale High School 

Little Sister Katelyn and Big Sister Bridget Burk have been matched together for 8 years. Katelyn will be graduating from Cloverdale High School in the Spring. Katelyn is still considering her plans after graduation.

When reflecting on their time together in the program and how Little Sister Katelyn has grown over the years Bridget shared, “It has grown a lot and we are very comfortable around each other! We can joke and laugh together and just have fun.” 

Katelyn and Bridget have done a lot together over the years, but a memory that stands out for them was the day they stopped by an antique shop. Bridget felt this was the day Katelyn had really opened up and she was able to learn a lot from her as well! In addition to this memory, they have spent time going out to do activities such as dinner, visiting a comedy club, going to the Fall Festival, and other activities.  

Bridget has one message that she would like to leave for Katelyn, “You can do anything you want in life! Do not be scared of failure and get comfortable with being uncomfortable. If anyone tells you – you can’t, prove them wrong! ” The BBBSCI family and Bridget will be rooting for Katelyn in her next chapter of life after high school.

Match: Little Sister Mickely and Big Sister Jennifer Seidel

Match Date: March 27, 2012 

High School: Crispus Attucks High School

Little Sister Mickely and Big Sister Jennifer Seidel have been matched together for 10 years in the program. Mickely will be graduating from BBBSCI program in the Spring. Mickely is planning to return to high school and work to receive her high school diploma. 

Littler Sister Mickely and Big Sister Jennifer have enjoyed this past decade with one another building and growing a relationship. They have enjoyed many things over this time such as going to the YMCA and swimming, watching movies at the theater or at home with one another. Their favorite movie of all time is Frozen and they also enjoying baking sugar cookies with one another. They also enjoy just spending time talking to one another about the future and other things that are important to them. 

The BBBSCI family and Jennifer will be rooting for Mickely and her future plans after being in the BBBSCI program.

KIPP Indianapolis College Preparatory 

Match: Litter Sister Nya and Big Sister Olivia Swinger

Match Date: April 17, 2018

High School: KIPP Indianapolis Legacy High 

Little Sister Nya and Big Sister Olivia Swinger have been matched together for 4 years. Nya will be graduating from KIPP Indianapolis Legacy High in the Spring. Nya is still considering her plans after graduation. 

When reflecting on their time together in the program and how Little Sister Nya has grown over the years Olivia shared how their relationship started to open up and they were able to share more about the challenging things in life, but they have faced challenges due to COVID. Medical issues may have occurred during the pandemic, but they are still able to connect with each other and talk.  

Nya and Olivia have done a lot together over the years, and memories that stand out for them was making gingerbread houses with one another. Also, attending the Taylor Swift concert they both had fun time.  

Olivia has one message that she would like to leave for Nya, “The love and care you show for your siblings and your natural intelligence has impressed me since day one! Keep searching for you passion and what inspires you. Do not ever give up!” The BBBSCI family will be rooting for Nya in her next chapter of life after high school.

Crispus Attucks Medical Magnet

Match: Little Sister Tahja and Big Sister Kayla Bechman

Match Date: November 19, 2021

High School: Crispus Attucks Medical Magnet 

Little Sister Tahja and Big Sister Kayla Bechman have been matched together for 6 months. Tahja will be graduating from Crispus Attucks Medical Magnet in the Spring. Tahja is still considering her plans after graduation. 

In this short amount of time they were able to connect to one another. Tahja was able to share some of her future plans that she is considering. Tahja was able to have Kayla as a listening ear when she shared things pertaining to her life and her future. They have enjoyed Starbucks coffee with one another. Talking and spending time together to get to know one another and build a relationship. They have also, shared lunch with one another such as Crackle Barrel and had a great time enjoying one another's company. 

The BBBSCI family and Kayla will be rooting for Tahja as she heads into her next chapter of life after graduation.

Crispus Attucks Medical Magnet 

Match: Little Sister Tamar and Big Sister Patrice Bradley 

Match Date: June 15, 2018

High School: Crispus Attucks Medical Magnet 

Little Sister Tamar and Big Sister Patrice Bradley have been matched together for 3 years. Tamar will be graduating from Crispus Attucks Medical Magnet in the Spring. Tamar is still considering what college she will attend but wants to study within the medical field. Tamar is also the scholarship recipient for the Lawrence W. Inlow & Carryl A. Wilkerson Scholarship Fund.

When reflecting on their time together in the program and how Little Sister Tamar has grown over the years Patrice shared, “I met Tamar the summer before she started high school. Four years later, Tamar is like an extended family member.” 

Tamar and Patrice have done a lot together over the years, but a memory that stood out for them was when Patrice invited Tamar to volunteer at a local food pantry. Tamar had done an amazing job helping that day. Patrice had received an email from the operations lead at the food pantry praising Tamar for her help. In addition to this memory Tamar and Patrice have participated in BBBSCI sponsored events and much more.  

Patrice has one message that she would like to leave for Tamar, “I know your next transition to college will be stressful, but you have this! Do not hesitate to ask for help – the teachers and counselors are in their jobs because they WANT to help you and other students.” The BBBSCI family and Patrice will be rooting for Tamar in her chapter in life as she heads to college.
