Lawrence North High School

Match: Little Sister Abby and Big Sister Brittany Fennell

Match Date: March 3, 2020

High School: Lawrence North High School

Little Sister Abby and Big Sister Brittany Fennel have been matched together for 2 years. Abby will be graduating from Lawrence North High School in the Spring. Abby is still considering her plans after graduation. 

When reflecting on their time together in the program and how Little Sister Abby has grown over the years Brittany shared, “It has grown significantly! We have become remarkably close, and it has been awesome to witness Abby continue to develop and grow. She has experienced some tough times while we have been matched, as well as some exciting moments, and I have been glad to support her through them all. Despite her graduating from the program, I am confident that we will remain in each other’s lives.”  

Abby and Brittany have done a lot together over the years, but a memory that stands out form them when they tried sushi for the first time. They went all out with what they ordered one of everything. Abby did not enjoy it as much as they expected, but they had some good laughs as she tasted some of the diverse types. Brittany will never forget Abby’s face when she tried sashimi it was hilarious for her to witness. 

Brittany has one message that she would like to leave for Abby, “Just dot it! Whatever your desire. Try it at least once. And if it does not go well, that’s okay, failure it not fatal and it will all work out in the end.” The BBBSCI family and Brittany will be rooting for Abby in her next chapter of life.

Lawrence North High School

Match: Little Brother Isaiah and Big Brother Bobby Humphrey

Match Date: July 22, 2017

High School: Lawrence Central High School 

Little Brother Isaiah and Big Brother Bobby have been matched together for 4years. Isaiah will be graduating from Lawrence Central High School in the Spring. Isaiah is still considering what college he will attend after high school. Isaiah is also the scholarship recipient of the Lawrence W. Inlow & Carryl A. Wilkerson Scholarship Fund.

When reflecting on their time together in the program and how Little Brother Isaiah has grown over the years Bobby shared, “Isaiah and I have become very close, our conversations have grown from basic topic like sports to now discussing entrepreneurship goals.”  

Isaiah and Bobby have done a lot together over the years a memory that stand out for them is when Isaiah shared with Bobby about starting a clothing business with his brother. They had coffee with each other and while Isaiah asked for help on how to start this business and seeking advice. Bobby felt honored to have Isaiah ask for his advice and seeing his passion was special to him. In addition to this memory Isaiah and Bobby have attended BBBSCI sponsored events, Pacers games, dinner, etc.  

Bobby has one message that he would like to leave for Isaiah, “Keep working hard and always believe in yourself. And never stop smiling!" The BBBSCI family and Bobby are rooting for Isaiah in his next chapter of life in college.

Match: Little Brother Demetrious, Big Brother Neil Heider, and Big Sister Shannon Heider

Match Date: February 19, 2014

High School: Lawrence Central High School

Little Brother Demetrious and Big Brother Neil Heider and Big Sister Shannon Heider have been matched together for 8 years. Demetrious will be graduating from Lawrence Central High School in the Spring. Demetrious is still considering his plans after high school.  

When reflecting on their time together in the program and how Little Brother Demetrious has grown over the years Neil shared, “We have been together for a long time. It has been great to see Demetrious grow over the years. With COVID it has been hard, but we are excited to see him graduate from high school and are excited for the next steps in his life.” 

Demetrious, Neil, and Shannon have done a lot together over the years, but memorable moments that mean so much to this match is just seeing Demetrious grow into a young man. Neil shared, “Demetrious really cares about his family and is always engaged and asking about our family. We are always excited to hear what he has planned for the future.” 

Neil and Shannon have one message that they would like to leave for Demetrious, “Keep reaching for your dreams while keeping your faith and family at the center of everything. We love you!” The BBBSCI family, Neil, and Shannon will be rooting for Demetrious in his next chapter of life after graduation.
