Match: Little Brother Jacob and Big Brother Walter Barnes

High School: Calvary Lutheran School 

Little Brother Jacob and Big Brother Walter Barnes have been matched together for 4 years. Jacob will be graduating from Calvary Lutheran School in the Spring. Jacob will be attending Indiana State University in the Fall studying Construction Management. Jacob is also the scholarship recipient of the Ivy Tech Foundation.

When reflecting on their time in the program and how their relationship has grown Little Brother Jacob shared, "It has grown exceptionally, while it was slightly awkward at first, now it feels like I have an older friend or even an older brother."

Jacob and Walt have done a lot together over the past 4 years but a memorable moment for this match is when they went to Dave and Buster's. Jacob also, recalls the Pacer game that they attended together and all the fun they had that evening. 

Jacob has one message that he would like to tell his Big Brother Walt, "Thank you for coming into my life and being not only my big brother, but for being my friend and someone I can always rely on." The BBBSCI family and Walt will be rooting for Jacob as he heads to Indiana State University.

Central Christian Academy 

Match: Little Sister Kynndi and Big Sister Joni Tempest-Worley

Match Date: December 10, 2013

High School: Central Christian Academy 

Little Sister Kynndi and Big Sister Joni Tempest-Worley have been matched together for 8 years. Kynndi will be graduating from Central Christian Academy in the Spring. Kynndi is still considering her plans after graduation. 

When reflecting on their time together in the program and how Little Sister Kynndi has grown over the years Joni shared, “Greater communication, trust, and appreciation.”  

Kynndi and Joni have done a lot together over the years and there are many memories that mean so much to this match. What has made many of their moments special is simply spending time together talking and sharing. They have went shopping together, hung out at the park, painted pumpkins, made vision boards, volunteer work, etc.  

Joni has one message that she would like to leave for Kynndi, “Your maturity, strength, sense of self, and capacity for gratitude are amazing. I hope every chapter leads to genuine happiness and the realization of your full potential.” The BBBSCI family and Join will be rooting for Kynndi in his next chapter of life after high school.

Match: Little Sister Mireya and Big Sister Fiorella Yep Mendizabal

High School: Cathedral High School 

Little Sister Mireya and Big Sister Fiorella Yep Mendizabal have been matched together for 1 year. Mireya will be graduating from Cathedral High School in the Spring. Mireya will be attending Indiana University in the Fall. 

When reflecting on their time in the program and how Little Sister Mireya and Big Sister Fio shared their time Senior Mentor Relationship Specialist shared,"Fio and Mireya have worked hard to find time in their busy schedules to stay connected over the year of their match. Mireya was finishing up her busy senior year at Cathedral and getting ready to attend IU-B in the fall and Big Sister Fio was completing her final year of medical school. They have enjoyed seeing movies and just spending down time together over a meal."

The BBBSCI family and Big Sister Fio will be rooting for Mireya as she heads to Indiana University this Fall.
