The Marion County Commission on Youth recently published their 2017 Youth Activity Directory! This guide is full of great resources for our families and matches, including but not limited to: counseling and health, community centers and food pantries, homework help, summer camps, summer jobs, and family fun activities in town!
Check out page 24 for a list of 30 central Indiana restaurants where kids eat free or discounted! Or turn to pages 19-23 for volunteer and leadership opportunities that would make a great match activity.
Sarah Fox, Bilingual Match Support Specialist, suggests this fun match activity with the directory: “Visit the public library with your Little. Get on the computer and open up the directory online. Scroll through the guide together and identify areas your Little is most interested in. Help them pick out and write down at least five new resources they want to learn more about and get involved in. Then research those opportunities further on the web. When you drop off your Little at home, discuss what was found with your Little’s family and support them to pursue the resources! Bonus: After the library, grab a low-cost snack at one of the 30 places where kids eat free listed on page 24!”
