Name: Darcey Palmer-Shultz
Title: Chief Executive Officer
Start Date: January 2006
I am a former Big Sister – in both Fort Wayne and Indianapolis.
My favorite memory from working at BBBSCI is … My favorite memories are all of the times people came together to do something hard that mattered – Six Sigma projects, serving more kids, the RISE campaign, a new building, adapting to serve new populations, solving problems, etc.
What I love most about my job is … There are too many things. I love meeting and knowing so many good people who choose BBBS to be a part of their lives. I love that I’m constantly learning and we’re constantly evolving – even after being with BBBS for 16 years; we don’t sit still. Most of all, I love the easy alignment between my personal values and the work we do.
How has mentoring played a role in your life? I’ve always gravitated toward people who care about me but also challenge me, and I’ve been fortunate to have a long list of people I consider mentors and advisors. These relationships have helped me pursue or do hard things for which I didn’t feel ready, learn and adapt, and sometimes just feel encouraged and valuable.
When I’m not at work, you can find me … at Starbucks.
What is your favorite spot(s) in Indy? Indianapolis Motor Speedway…obviously.
