Hello!
First and always, we hope you are well. When the Big Brothers Big Sisters staff began working remotely on March 13, the majority of our work relied on in-person interaction. We are in the relationship business after all, and we look forward to safely seeing everyone when possible.
In the meantime, we have too many great young people in our community to pause and wait, and they still want and need the encouragement of mentors – perhaps now more than before as they are separated from school, extracurricular activities, friends and family, and other support. So, we have been thoughtfully adapting and innovating to reach and inspire young people in new ways.
By going virtual in every way we can, we continue to find, enroll, train, and match new Bigs and Littles while providing support and coaching, activities, and resources that make our mentoring relationships strong and impactful. There is a special kind of magic that happens when a young person meets their Big and a new Big meets their Little. Right now, we’re able to capture some of that magic through a computer screen. We thought you might like to see an inside look in this video of what Big Brothers Big Sisters looks like in this moment:
We are absolutely in this together, and at Big Brothers Big Sisters, we are committed to keeping kids connected, celebrating, learning, playing, encouraged, and excited for their future. Big Brothers Big Sisters needs volunteers and support to continue reaching young people during this critical time. Please consider volunteering, encouraging someone you know to volunteer, or make a contribution so that our important program can continue igniting the potential of our community’s children.
Thank you so much for your continued support.
