Celebrating Women’s History Month!

March is Women’s History Month, a time for “commemorating and encouraging the study, observance and celebration of the vital role of women in American history.” WomensHistoryMonth.gov

Big Sisters of Central Indiana began serving girls in our community in 1974 and we are proud to continue to empower the potential of over 700 young women annually through the support of female role models – matches like Little Sister Mae and Big Sister Vicki who built a lifelong friendship during the eight years they were matched together. In 2020, Mae graduated from Purdue University, where she studied Forestry and Wildlife. “My Big Sister inspired me and believed in me, and because of that, I believed in myself.” – Little Sister Mae, BBBSCI Class of 2016

Bigs are invited to visit the Big App to sign up for our Women’s History Month match activities, including a special Game Night and “Celebrating Phenomenal Black Women,” a match activity in partnership with Girls, Inc. We’ve also included a list of resources below and on our website, to engage in continued conversation and we hope you’ll follow along with us all month long as we celebrate Women’s History Month on our social media channels: FacebookInstagramLinkedIn, and Twitter.
