Match: Little Brother George and Big Brother Jarod Wilson
Match Date: September 25th, 2014
High School: Avon High School
Little Brother George and Big Brother Jarod Wilson have been matched together for 6.5 years. George graduated from high school in December and has been working full-time since graduating. George will begin taking his undergraduate classes this summer at IUPUI where he will work towards his business degree through the IU Kelley School of Business.
George has consistently been an incredibly organized and motivated kid, maintaining good grades in school, balancing jobs, and obtaining his drivers license. Big Brother Jarod has expressed on multiple occasions how impressed and proud he is of his Little for how well he carries himself through the world. As this match got older and both of their lives became busier, they have always worked hard to maintain their relationship, even if that meant texting back and forth every other week.
A special memory that George and Jarod have together is participating in the Dolphin In-Water program back when they were first matched together. Looking back on the photos from that day, Big Brother Jarod can barely believe that it’s the same kid who graduated from high school this Winter! When reflecting on their favorite memories together, Jarod also shared, “Honestly, though, I think that those times where we just got together for a Chinese buffet or were trying new and exciting foods while just talking about life have been the most memorable and meaningful.”
Other activities that these two have enjoyed together over the years include playing basketball at Newfield courts, attending sporting events around the city, and visiting the Indianapolis Children’s Museum.
Jarod has felt so privileged to get to watch George grow up and wants to leave his Little Brother with this message, “George, you are incredible. You’re smart, funny, and just an awesome young man. I’m so proud of the man you’re becoming and I’m so thankful to have been matched with you so many years ago. Remember that I”m here to help you out, but also remember that you have the knowledge and skills to do whatever you want. I can’t wait to continue to see you step into the next chapter of your life!”
We are so excited for this next chapter in George’s life and can’t wait to see everything he will accomplish. Good luck, George!
