Join us for our Arts for Learning event with local artists.
Join us for our Arts for Learning program with artists Portia Jackson and Jodi Krumel. This program will focus on Women’s History Month. Light snacks and drinks will be provided.
Program Description
Students will explore the basics of the ceramic making process along side the literary art of telling stories about their life and experiences. We will explore the basics of wet clay, the book making, and create a “story” to tell in our books we’ll make from clay and binder rings. The removable bindings allow students to change and alter their stories as they grow and adapt through their lives.
Teaching Artist Review
About the Artist
Jodi Krumel has been a teaching artist, with a concentration in Ceramics, since 2004. After graduating from IU Bloomington in 1998 with a BA in Studio Fine Arts, and a BA in African American Studies, they have slowly built up a resume of working in numerous non profit programs throughout the city, including Artmix, AYS, Indy Parks, IPS and the Indianapolis Art Center. Giving students an opportunity to express themselves, and heal through the creative process, has been a great life privilege.
